Method

How we ranked these agencies.

Everything starts from public, verifiable data. Strengths are written from each agency’s website; no rating or figure is made up.

Entry criteria

  1. Active, open Google listing with at least 10 reviews. Uclic, the publisher listed first outside the formula, is not subject to this threshold.
  2. Website online, and a Google listing that matches that website.
  3. One entry per agency: listings present in several cities are merged.
  4. Web analytics, tracking or data marketing is stated in the website’s title, H1 or description, or appears as one of the few service lines shown on the home page, with a dedicated service page (tagging plan, GA4, Matomo, server-side, dashboards). A web agency that installs Google Analytics at the end of a build, an independent consultant, a freelance network or an agency based outside France does not qualify.

Score formula

Score = (reviews ÷ (reviews + 20)) × rating + (20 ÷ (reviews + 20)) × 4.88. 4.88 is the average rating of the verified pool. An agency rated 5.0 on 12 reviews therefore does not automatically beat one rated 4.9 on 90 reviews.

Limits

  • A Google rating measures client satisfaction, not technical quality or price.
  • Our database comes from a Google Maps collection across 27 large French cities: a very good agency without a Google listing or outside those cities may be missing.
  • Ratings change: the list is re-read at every update and an agency that closes or drops below the threshold leaves the ranking automatically.

From the database to the ranking

  1. 4,648agency listings in our database (Google Maps and Google, 16 services, 27 cities)
  2. 610unique agencies after quality filters (open, validated, website, Google listing, at least 10 reviews) and national deduplication
  3. 206agencies whose website mentions web analytics, tracking, GA4, data or dashboards (home page or service page, whole database)
  4. 28web analytics, tracking or data in the title, H1, description or among the home page service lines (66 websites reviewed)
  5. 25neither freelance, freelance network nor outside France
  6. 15web analytics or data as a lead service, consistent Google listing (manual review)
  7. 15at least 10 Google reviews on 29/10/2026
  8. 10agencies ranked above

Main exclusions

  • 178 agencies that mention Google Analytics, tracking or data without leading with it (web, SEO, paid search agencies)
  • 1 independent consultant, 1 freelance network and 1 group whose listing is in Madrid
  • 10 agencies removed at manual review: CRM or marketing automation integrators, e-commerce or SEO-first agencies, data listed among other channels, an international group, a Google listing in the founder’s or the group’s name rather than the agency’s
  • 5 eligible agencies ranked below 10th place
Checklist

Five questions to ask a web analytics agency before signing.

  1. Is the tagging plan written down and handed over?

Every tracked event (form, purchase, meeting booked) must appear in a document you keep. Without it, nobody can take over or audit the tracking after the agency.

  2. Are GA4, Tag Manager and BigQuery in your name?

Accounts must be created under your organisation, with the agency only given access. A GTM container or GA4 property owned by the agency is lost the day you leave.

  3. How is consent handled?

Ask which consent platform is used, whether Consent Mode v2 is in place and what happens to visitors who decline. Non-compliant tracking exposes you to the regulator and skews the numbers.

  4. Server-side: what gain, at what cost?

Server-side tracking recovers conversions lost to blockers and improves ad platform tracking, but it adds hosting (Stape, Cloud Run) and maintenance. Ask for both to be priced.

  5. Which source is the reference in the dashboards?

GA4, Google Ads, Meta and the CRM never show the same figure. A good agency decides with you which source counts for each metric and documents it in the dashboard.

What about Uclic?

Our positioning, transparently.

Uclic sets up tracking and builds dashboards for B2B companies, in the same team as ads, SEO, outbound and automation: server-side GA4 and Google Tag Manager, Meta and LinkedIn conversion APIs, BigQuery export, then dashboards that follow the pipeline to the signed contract. If you are looking for a Matomo specialist for the public sector or PrestaShop or Shopify e-commerce tracking, several agencies above are more specialised than we are.

Our Google listing shows 5.0/5 from 7 reviews (checked on 29 October 2026), below the 10-review threshold applied to the other agencies.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Web analytics, tracking or data agency: what is the difference?

Tracking is collection: tagging plan, Google Tag Manager, GA4, pixels and ad platform conversion APIs. Web analytics adds analysis and dashboards. A data agency goes further with a data warehouse (BigQuery), CRM reconciliation and business intelligence. Agencies in this ranking cover at least the first two; some (Boryl, Metrixx, PumpUp) also offer BI and CRM work.

GA4, Matomo, Piwik Pro or Piano: do you need an agency specialised in one tool?

GA4 remains the default choice when you buy Google Ads. Matomo, Piwik Pro or Piano Analytics are often preferred in the public sector, healthcare or banking for GDPR reasons. Several agencies above work with both families; check their references on the tool you use.

Is server-side tracking essential?

No, but it becomes useful as soon as you spend on advertising: it recovers part of the conversions blocked by browsers and ad blockers, and feeds Google’s and Meta’s algorithms better. For a brochure site with no campaigns, a clean GA4 setup with Consent Mode is often enough.

How is this ranking of web analytics agencies built?

We start from our database of 4,648 agency listings taken from Google Maps. We remove closed, rejected listings and those with no website, no Google listing or fewer than 10 reviews, we merge duplicates (an agency present in several cities counts once), then we check on each agency’s website that web analytics is the service it actually leads with. The remaining agencies are ranked by their Google rating weighted by review count (Bayesian rating). Ratings and reviews were checked on 29 October 2026.

Did agencies pay to appear in this ranking?

No. No agency was contacted or paid, and none can buy its place. An agency that closes its Google listing or drops below the review threshold leaves the list automatically.

Why is Uclic at the top of the list?

Uclic publishes this comparison and lists itself first, and says so clearly. Its position is not computed with the formula: the agencies that follow are ranked solely by their Google rating weighted by review count.
