@feross Android duckduckgo browser
@feross okay this is really good
@harsh_gelda Okay, we're looking into this. Thank you.
@feross yes, the files were fully uploaded and there were 2 files of 25MB each
@feross sure I will.
@harsh_gelda Are you sure that you waited until the files were fully uploaded before you closed the tab on the sender side? Also, how large were the files? We don't store files larger than 5GB on our servers – so for those you'll need to keep your browser open on the sender side.
@feross Firefox for sending the files, but chrome for receiving them
@harsh_gelda Did you receive an error? What browser are you using?
Saw this tool a while ago and saved it to the browser. Tried it for the first time today and I was unable to download the received files through the link. It would be great if you could look into this :(
@parikshith_rai Data goes directly between the sender and the receiver. The download speed depends on how many people are sharing at the same time - we use WebTorrent under the hood, so even downloaders can help share file pieces with other downloaders. For files up to 5 GB, Wormhole stores your files on our servers for 24 hours. For files larger than 5 GB, Wormhole uses peer-to-peer transfer to send your files directly from your browser to the recipient. So you'll need to keep the page open until the recipient downloads the files.
Hey @feross Great product.. congrats! By P2P do you mean that other nodes(users) will also be used to transfer the file or is it directly going to the user who has the link? Does the speed of download /upload depend on the nodes(users) currently active? Also, I noticed that files above 5 gb will be stored on your server is it?
I see it has the same name as the known OSS project existing here for long https://github.com/magic-wormhole/magic-wormhole - is it actually using this tool in background?
@max_khomutin I use it too, quite simple&fast
Well, I’ve been using almost the same project for over 2 years already - https://encrypt.one/. Passwords, .docx/.xls files sending etc. So this one is not so unique, but this one can transfer up to 5Gb, Encrypt sends only 5Mb(
@robinkunz Thank you!
@lesley_kretai Thank you Lesley!
@charles_naut Thanks Charles! Nice to hear from you. Hope you're well!
@sebastien_domine It's like WeTransfer. We'll securely host your files and make sure the link works for 24 hours. However, to increase speed of transfer, we might also use P2P transfer if you and the recipient have the app open at the same time. We're planning to introduce a Pro plan for larger file limits and explore an enterprise version for organizations that have high security requirements (law firms, etc.) that can't use existing cloud storage providers.
@ferminrp @mikefsp Yep, that's a great idea.
@maxmaroadam Appreciate it!
@maxmaroadam Thank you Max! Appreciate it!
?makers Cool UI/UX and overall a great Product! Is the wormhole graphic/animation open source? If yes, where can I find it :)? If no, can you make it open source :D? it's so brilliant!! All the best and keep up the good work
Thank you for developing this app. Another quick, reliable and safe option for sending files!
Really cool as usual!
Hi, I'm not sure tu understand : Is it a wetransfer-like or a peer-to-peer service ? If it's like wetransfer, how do you pay your servers ?
@ferminrp @feross You can add in "pro plan" possibility to increase/decrease expiration time and more other things
Nice does it!
Feels good. Nice design
@alfonsopereze Haha, thanks!
@feross you guys are great!, didn't even know about that option, I love wormhole!!
@iprashantpillai We just added support for reduced motion! https://twitter.com/Wormhole_App/status/1380301459158278145

@asadoo93 Thank you – I hope you get a lot of use out of it!

This is a very useful product 🙌🏾
This is really Great! Just a question though , what is the maximum file size that I can send ?
@ahmedesoliman Thank you Ahmed. I appreciate it.
@amsayli_stefananc That's great to hear. Let me know how your team likes it.
This is amazing Idea!
This looks cool. My team and I are definitely going to try it!
@bdtnrp This is a good suggestion!
@ferminrp @giuseppegurgone @feross I just sent it; let me know if you don't get it. Thanks!
Another option for Pro account. Make one time use Links. That way the receiver can't share the link with others I didn't intend. Once the receiver clicks on the link, no one else can use that. Would also require ability to create multiple links to the same file(s).
@carlo_thissen Thank you Carlo!
@alexander_shatalin We use strong end-to-end encryption. We support files up to 10 GB, while Telegram supports only 1.5GB.
@darren_t_jansen It's a web app that you can install through Chrome - known as a "progressive web app" or PWA. It should integrate quite nicely with your operating system – should appear when you Control+Tab or Command+Tab (on Mac), and appear in the Start Menu or Dock (on Mac). All files are encrypted locally with a secret that is known only to you. The server has no way of seeing your files.
@ferminrp @giuseppegurgone @darren_t_jansen Can you send me an email to (my first name AT my first name DOT org) with information about what problem your company is trying to solve? Thanks!
I downloaded the app with Chrome, and for some reason it looks like the app is part of Chrome. (The menu bar has the little extensions puzzle piece.) Is the app a browser app? Or is it standalone? My CPU goes to 100% for a few seconds when I drop files in there, so I guess that's the app encrypting the files locally?
@ferminrp @giuseppegurgone @feross might be good to include white label in the pro plan. This looks like a good solution for a problem that my company is facing.
